Long Eaton Public Space Protection Order |
||
|
Good afternoon all,
At Long Eaton SNT, we often receive reports of people drinking alcohol and causing general antisocial behaviour in open spaces.
Like all crimes, we take antisocial behaviour seriously and we will continue to monitor the hotspot areas.
In Long Eaton there is a Public Space Protection Order in place which was created by Erewash Borough Council. This order is specifically aimed at ensuring public spaces can be enjoyed free from anti-social behaviour. The orders deal with specific nuisances or problems, in a defined area, that are "detrimental to the community’s quality of life" under the guidance and details of the Act. This is achieved by imposing conditions on the use of a defined area which applies to everyone.
The activities which are to be prohibited in the mapped area are:
Any person who, without reasonable excuse, fails to comply with this Order commits an offence and shall be liable on summary conviction to a fine.
I have attached an image of the mapped area of the PSPO.
Officers from Long Eaton SNT take alcohol off individuals on a weekly basis if they are causing a nuisance within the mapped area. We patrol the main hotspot areas and monitor ASB. If an individual is not sat within the mapped area but are drinking and causing a nuisance then we can take the alcohol away however if they are not causing any issues then they are within their rights to sit there.
If you are witnessing ongoing issues caused by alcohol in Long Eaton you can report this to the council's community safety team online.
